Writing Consultation
As an actor, a coach and a writer, Piero Dusa has a specific approach to effective storytelling within the script format. Dusa's focus on teaching "preference" is in-line with his personal belief that action does indeed flow from character. A deep understanding of your character's pathology will drive his motivation - motivation drives action and reaction - actions and reactions naturally and seamlessly drive plot. Dusa offers private consultations that will benefit any writer that wants to sculpt "character-focused" story's that will attract talented directors - or, any writer that wants to create "tighter" works without character inconsistencies or plot holes that will attract producers because major re-writes aren't required, or, any writer that wants to create characters whose unique preferences result in natural characters voiced by strong and distinct dialogue that will attract actors of all levels. Consultations are tailored to the attendee and can cover any style of writing, from long-form to sit-com and includes; analysis of the script and structure, going from concept to the finished product, all phases of writing including re-writes, treatments, editing, and marketing, and always with a focus on your character's preference in various circumstances and maintaining distinct/specific dialogue. Topics cover:
1. Protecting your intellectual property; registering with the WGA and filing for copyright protection.
2. Detailed analysis of your script; understanding the consistency of your plot choices and how they affect structure, the depth of your characters and how their preference controls motivation, and making sure all your characters have unique voices and can be identified by tone-specific dialogue.
3. Knowing your audience; critical for any writer hoping to sell their work and important to know whether your seeking representation - pitching/submitting to a potential buyer or festival - marketing to assist in raising financing.
